Dr. Shea L. Bradley-Farrell: Hungary's History and Politics Offer Important Lessons for the West
On April 15, 2025, the Oeconomus Economic Research Foundation and the Center for Fundamental Rights organized the Central European Summit conference at the Várkert Bazár in Budapest. Among the speakers was Dr. Shea L. Bradley-Farrell, who gave an interview to our newspaper during the lunch break.
István Szarvas: Dr. Bradley-Farrell, thank you for answering my questions. Let's start with the Biden administration. How do you assess its policies, particularly in social matters?
Dr. Shea L. Bradley-Farrell: The Biden administration's policies are concerning in many areas. In social matters, such as gender ideology and critical race theory, they are moving in a direction that feels alien to many Americans. These policies resemble the divisive tactics used by communist regimes, aiming to polarize society and restrict individual freedoms.
István Szarvas: How do you view the Trump administration's policies?
Dr. Shea L. Bradley-Farrell: The Trump administration made efforts to restore American values and sovereignty in various areas. I particularly value their initiatives to protect national identity and traditional family values. While I didn't agree with every decision, their direction aligned more closely with foundational American principles.
István Szarvas: You've spent considerable time in Hungary. What parallels do you see between Hungarian and American migration policies?
Dr. Shea L. Bradley-Farrell: Hungary has taken decisive steps to curb mass migration, emphasizing national sovereignty and preserving cultural identity. In contrast, the United States' open-border policies have led to numerous issues, including security risks and social tensions. I believe the U.S. could learn from Hungary's example in this regard.
István Szarvas: Let's discuss your latest book, "Last Warning to the West." What inspired you to write it?
Dr. Shea L. Bradley-Farrell: The book was motivated by my desire to share Hungary's experiences in combating communism and preserving national identity. I believe Hungary's history and current policies offer valuable lessons for the West, especially in defending sovereignty and traditional values. The book aims to warn the West about the dangers of losing freedom and identity if we don't firmly uphold these values.
